Jimmy Lee Winston, age 56, of Acworth, Georgia, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. Jimmy was born in Smithfield, North Carolina, to the late Melvin Lee Harper and Martha Winston.
He was a proud graduate of Smithfield-Selma High School and went on to further his education at The Atlanta Art Institute, later earning a degree in multimedia from ITT.
Art was at the heart of who Jimmy was. A gifted mural and portrait artist by trade, he possessed a deep appreciation for creativity in all its forms. His passion for art extended beyond his own work; Jimmy loved traveling the world with his family and took great joy in experiencing the masterpieces of renowned artists throughout history.
Jimmy was known for his warm spirit and welcoming nature; he truly never met a stranger. He loved his family deeply, and his daughters meant the world to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Lee Harper and Martha Winston; his sisters, Mary Alice Winston and Hope Lynn Winston-Montague; and several aunts and uncles.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Katrina Kindall-Winston; his daughters, Choumie Charles (born prior to his marriage), Jaimie Winston, and Kandis Winston; his brother, Haywood (Sonya) Winston; his sisters, Aisha (Alex) Daniel and Connie Winston; his loving aunts, Eliza Stewart of Wendell, North Carolina, Betty Cooley of Smithfield, North Carolina, and Mattie Foye of Smithfield, North Carolina; his uncles, Jack Harper of Kenly, North Carolina, and Roy Winston of Wendell, North Carolina; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of friends who will forever cherish his memory.
