Deacon Benjamin F Young

DEACON BENJAMIN F. YOUNG Was born September 25, 1950 to the late Buster Scott and Janie Bell Young Hunter in Meggett, SC. He was called home on April 15, 2026 at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh, NC.

Deacon Benjamin attended school in Ravenel, SC. He did farming until the age of 19 and later moved his occupation to construction. He also worked at Siemons, CC Mangum, Wal-Mart, and Bojangles. He accepted christ at an early age and joined Bethel Baptist Church in SC in the 70’s. He later joined Saint Matthew Disciple Church in Zebulon, NC under the leadership of Dorothy G. Best. Many years later God sent him the love of his life Doris Jeffreys and they married on June 27, 2009. He joined New Bethel Community Christian Church under the leadership of Reverend Ricky Allen. He became a ordained deacon on January 29, 2012. He had a passion for singing and ministering to all those around him. He was a Sunday school superintendent, president of the senior and male chorus. His favorite passtime was spending time with God, his wife, family and most importantly watching TV when it won’t watching him.

Deacon Benjamin was preceded in death by his first wife Birdie C. Young, two sisters Veronica Hunter and Robin Hunter; one grandson Damian Holder; a host of in-laws and other relatives

Deacon Benjamin leaves to cherish his memories; his surviving wife Doris Young; one daughter, Heddey Holder of Raleigh NC; one granddaughter, Rickala Brown (Howard) of Wake Forest, NC; One great-grandson, Kayson Boone of Raleigh, NC; Four sisters, Dorothy Davis of Fayetteville, NC; Vera Hunter of Savannah, GA; Ernestine Drayton Brown of Orlando, Fl; Emma Jean Brown of Hollywood, SC; Five brothers, Jimmy Brisbane (Mary) of Hollywood, SC; Ernest Scott (Francis) of NJ; Marvin Scott of NC; Timothy Scott(Terry) of Goose Creek, SC; & Kevin Scott of SC; three aunts; Carrie Smalls of Hollywood, SC; Lillie Pearl Smalls of Hollywood, SC; Nellie Pinckney (Levorn) of Hollywood, SC; three uncles; Louis Ward of Hollywood, SC; Oliver Ward (Shirley) of Hollywood, SC; & Andrew Ward (Maxine) of Woodridge, VA; One Nephew; Leroy Hunter of Savannah, GA; One sister in law Barbara Holder and one brother in law Bennie Holder both of Zebulon, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, & friends.
